SONS OF RAPHAEL HE WHO MAKES THE MORNING DARKNESS

Brothers Loral and Ronnel Raphael (pka Sons of Raphael) have been turning heads over the last year or so with their bold artistic vision and electrifying live shows. Following the release of their debut EP A Nation of Bloodsuckers, (read our List Pick of the accomplished titled track here) the rising duo have resurfaced with their most ambitious outing to date. The ominously-titled 'He Who Makes The Morning Darkness' is a gritty yet flamboyant cut that channels the whimsical psych-pop of MGMT meets the epic new-wave of Spandau Ballet. Sounding absolutely massive thanks to mixing by the late, great Philippe Zdar (known for his work with Phoenix, Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip to name a few) the conflicted lyrics act as "a comment on humanity’s dilemma of whether to believe in God: read either as ‘God is nowhere’ or ‘God is now here’, depending on your belief." Watch the dramatic self-directed video here now. -Holly Mullineaux
